Abstract
The spin Hall effect has been one of the central subjects in the spintronics area. The grand challenge in this area is improving the conversion ratio between electric current and spin current. In this talk, we propose new mechanisms of spin Hall effect based on critical spin fluctuations in itinerant magnetic systems, in which itinerant electrons interact with localized moments that are dynamically fluctuating. We will provide a detailed description of our theory of critical spin fluctuation mechanisms of the SH effect and discuss possible material realizations. The research by S.O. was supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Science, Basic Energy Sciences, Materials Sciences and Engineering Division.
