Abstract
A new field of applications for image processing systems is emerging that makes use of a three-dimensional scene analysis. Different methods have been devised, active and passive ones /6/, and for the automated visual inspection in more general terms the stereoscopic imaging seems ap-propriate. A new system for flexible inspection tasks is described that makes use of this three-dimensional imaging method.
