Abstract
In order to address the problems of high cost, inconvenient installation and susceptibility to weather conditions of existing vehicle speed measurement methods, this paper presents a novel differential beamforming-based vehicle speed measurement method, which applies differential microphone array beamforming techniques for vehicle speed measurement with better robustness in real-world environments. To evaluate the performance of the method on vehicle speed estimation, we conducted field experiments. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper has a lower cost of implementation and reduced computational complexity. Our algorithm produced better accuracy and performance in vehicle speed measurement (VSM).
