Abstract
For pier impacted by vehicles, two types of pier protection devices are proposed, plastic and elastic. Through structural design and finite element analysis of the two devices, the advantages and disadvantages of the two devices are compared. According to the finite element results, the protection device is optimized and manufactured. Finally, the protection device is verified by impact test.
