Abstract
We present a review of some fabrication techniques and linear and nonlinear applications of diffraction gratings in integrated optics. The experiments are performed using organic materials. Recent theoretical results in optimizing the coupling efficiency of a grating coupler in the presence of saturable nonlinear index are reported. Finally, we present an experimental study of dn/dT in polystyrene.
