Abstract
The future of offshore wind power plant development will show the characteristics of large-scale, clustering, deep and distant sea, and the VSC-HVDC transmission method will becoming the first choice for grid connection of deep offshore wind power. A comprehensive study was conducted on the safety and stability of offshore wind power plants with VSCHVDC transmission to the power grid. Firstly, the mechanism of short-circuit current provided by VSC-HVDC is analyzed, and the effect of short-circuit current provided by offshore wind power plants via VSC-HVDC transmission into the power grid in Jiangsu was studied. Secondly, the fault ride-through characteristics of offshore wind turbines via VSC-HVDC transmission to the power grid are studied, and the impact on the voltage stability and frequency stability of the Jiangsu power grid was analyzed. Finally, the mechanism and conditions of broadband oscillations triggered by VSC-HVDC transmission, and the sub/super synchronous oscillation stabilization problem of offshore wind power plants via VSC-HVDC transmission was studied, and the suppression measures could be used in the planning and design stage was proposed.
