Abstract
Swings are extremely popular with the general public but the small number of swings in the community, the low quality of swings, and the inefficient performance of swings in terms of safety have been a notable issue. From the perspective of the safety of swing users, this research attempts to develop a safety procedure for users, thus simultaneously enlarging the extent of swings in Chinese communities. In order to ensure the safety and popularity of non powered amusement equipment swings, standardized swings should be promoted in China. Firstly, an experiment was conducted in Dalian, China, using the reference materials of China's current swing standards to test the safety performance of the swing in Chinese communities. From the findings, the differences between the standard and reality were discovered and also the factors which primarily affect the safe use of swings were identified. Secondly, the swing standards of various countries are obtained and the characteristics are summarised in terms of similarities and differences. Using mathematical and physical methods to analyse the data in standards and judge their reliability and integrity. Finally, on the basis of practical investigation and theoretical analysis, the assumption of swing standardization is put forward.
