Abstract
Cloud-native technologies have received extensive attention from operators, and some network functions have been deployed in containers. The network function is usually responsible for the function of data forwarding, so the data plane of CNF is a very important technology, which has attracted the common attention of the academic and industrial circles. At present, there are many researches on traditional virtual machine-based network functions, but less research on containerized network functions, especially on the data plane performance of CNF. In this paper, we focus on the data plane performance of CNF. On the one hand, we compared the impact of data plane acceleration software on CNF performance through experiments. The conclusion shows that data plane acceleration software has greatly improved the bandwidth and packet forwarding capability of CNF. On the other hand, we also tested the impact of different data plane acceleration drivers. We found that different DPDK data plane acceleration drivers have very little impact on CNF performance, and only have a certain impact on small packets (<256 Byte).
