Abstract
Through a series of experiments with one dimensional signals, this paper explores the effects of various degrees of phase degradation for different lengths of sequences and for different choices in the set of sampling frequencies on the quality (as measured by normalised mean-square-error - NMSE) of reconstructed signals. Details of these experiments, the results from these experiments, and some theoretical understanding are presented. The quality(NMSE) of a signal reconstructed from noisy Fourier transform (FT) phases is found to depend on, amongst other, the length of the sequence and on the choice of the set of frequencies used for sampling the FT phase.
