Abstract

Extreme weather events have increased in frequency as a result of recent, more severe global warming. Several Chinese cities, including Chongqing, were in "baking" mode in the summer of 2022 due to the intense heat waves that swept across the northern hemisphere. In this study, the main urban area of Chongqing is chosen as the research object. Field research and online questionnaire interviews are used to determine the risk assessment index of high-temperature disaster-causing factors, the sensitivity assessment index of disaster-preventing environments, and the vulnerability assessment index of the disaster-bearing body. A high-temperature disaster assessment model is created in light of these findings. The results of each district's resilience assessment are then computed, and the results of factors that can cause high-temperature disasters are combined to produce the disaster risk assessment. The results of each district's resilience assessment are compared horizontally and vertically in order to provide a strategy for boosting Chongqing's resilience in the face of high-temperature disasters.
