Abstract
This paper proposes a detection method for missing small sized parts based on machine vision, which is able to determine whether small sized parts placed on a pallet are missing. Firstly, the high-resolution industrial camera is utilized to photograph the small parts placed on a pallet. Rectangle detection and template matching techniques are employed to estimate the pose of the pallet. Subsequently, based on the pallet template and the estimated pallet pose, the rectangle bounding boxes of the small sized parts are located. Using a pixel statistics method, it is determined whether there are parts within all the bounding boxes, and the missing parts are detected. Finally, a visual inspection system for detection of the missing small sized parts is set up and experiments are conducted. The results indicate that the method proposed in this paper can achieve the detection of missing small sized parts within the pallet.
