Abstract
In this paper we consider a completely incoherent, finite sized, quasi-monochromatic polarized optical source located in an input plane and assume that an arbitrary paraxial optical system, characterized by a complex ABCD matrix, occupies the space between the primary source and an observation plane. By using a Huygens-Fresnel integral formulation whose kernel is a function of the system ABCD matrix elements one can obtain expressions for the complex optical field in the observation plane.
