Abstract
This paper deals with the analytical work performed by the Ballistic Research Laboratory in evaluating the feasibility and performance enhancements of incorporating Forward-Looking- Infrared (FLIR) autotrack technology into armored combat tanks. Both current and next generation armored vehicle technologies were considered in the evaluation. In addition to autotrack, higher order target state estimation and prediction algorithms were also evaluated as part of the study. Both stationary firer/maneuvering target and fire-on-the-move/stationary target analyses were performed and will be presented in this paper.
