nonstationary nonlinear sell-consistent theory of fast wave devices operating near the cutoff frequ- ency of the operating TB mode of a waveguide such as both the gyro--T WT or gym-BWO and the peniotron- amplifier or BWO-peniotmn is developed. Computer simulation studies of steady-state single-frequency and multi-frequency amplification and also of single-frequency and multi-frequency, including chaotic, gene- ration may be performed in the theory. As an example, single-frequency amplification in the gyro-TWT and chaotic self-modulated generation in the peniotron are considered.
