Abstract

Interaction of edges in a detection process often cause displacements of detected edges at large scales. We consider a wavelet-based multiscale edge detector for reducing the degree of edge interactions. A symmetric scaling function corresponding to (c₀, c₃) equals (0.05, 0.05) is selected from solutions to the four-coefficient dilation equations, which leads to a four- coefficient filter yielding a minimum interaction between edges. Experimental results are presented to show its detection and localization performance.
