Abstract
Optical properties and DC conductivity of superthin niobium(1A-100A) and copper films on crystalline a-quartz and silicon havebeen studied. The metal films were prepared by radio frequencysputtering. Such films show metallic behavior even for thethickness of a few A. All measurements were made on air. To avoidoxidation the metal films were coated immediately after depositionby 40A thick protective silicon film.
