Abstract
A comparative investigation of the oscillating characteristics of a step-tunable (20 to 45GHz) gyrotron withthe change in the electron beam source is reported. This was achieved by direct comparison between agyrotron based on a two-electrode, cold cathode and a thermionic cathode configured within a magnetroninjection gun.
