Abstract
Among the wide range of photoinduced phenomena exhibited by the chalcogenide vitreous semiconductors (ChVS) the most frequently used in a variety of optical imaging applications are the photodoping effect (or the effect of photostimulated diffusion of metal into ChVS, one of the most widely studied) and the effect of photoinduced solubility change of ChVS layers. Both effects lead to substantial changes in the solubility rate of chalcogenides and this enables us, with the help of selective etching, to produce various relief images. In this paper the peculiarities of holographic optical elements, including holographic diffraction gratings, focusing elements (Fresnel lenses, etc.), phase-relief holograms production on the base of ChVS layers (As-S-Se-composition), are considered.
