Abstract
Selecting a sensor for product inspection is dependent upon a myriad of factors some are, motion, minimum resolvable features, field of view, contrast, and speed. These factors must be matched up against the basic elements of the sensor. These basic elements, amplifier speed, readout registers, and pixel layout, size, and count, determine the performance of the sensor. It is the sensor performance which will determine the sensors ability to correctly image a scene. The following will create a guideline using the major sensor features and sensor performance and show how they relate to a scene to be imaged.
