Abstract
Fractal approach is a very useful method to simulate some irregular and complicated images. It is especially suitable for representation of many natural scenes, e.g. mountains, terrains, trees, clouds, and other phenomena. In this paper, a fractal modeling algorithm simulating some kinds of plants is described. After a study at the space structure of natural plants, a parametric model is defined. Many restriction functions and control parameters are introduced, and in order to get various and more realistic images, lots of random factors are also added in this model. Through modifying these parameters, bamboo, pine, and some other plants are obtained.
