Abstract
The Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division is currently involved in the commercialization of the Weapons Team Engagement Trainer (WTET) through a non traditional technology transfer program. Funded by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Defense Laboratory Partnership for Technology Transfer, represents an opportunity for the Department of Defense to transition research and development products to the commercial sector through partnership with industry. This effort will produce a commercially available special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team trainer that will satisfy both military and law enforcement requirements. This effort has benefits in terms of speed of transition and opportunities for user involvement that will result in a higher quality product than traditional acquisition methods. Details of the system and the transfer process are provided.
