27 August 1999 Extraction of weld defects and making fidelity of its geometry from the x-ray image

Abstract
In this paper, the welded area extracting in automatic recognition of weld defects had been investigated according to the feature of weld image. The image enhancement based on self-adaptive subsection and edge correcting of weld was presented. Defect rectangle and end rectangle were defined for correction shape and size of the defects. The methods of defects rectangle forming, cycle of segmentation and growth and defect edge extracting in the end rectangle were designed to insure the veracity of defects size and shape. A satisfied result was obtained on welded area extracting and a high fidelity of defects was obtained.
