Abstract
JPEG 2000 inverse scalar quantization includes a reconstruction rounding factor that has a range of allowable values within the standard. Although the standard notes a fixed value that works reasonably well in practice, implementations are allowed to use other values in an effort to improve the reconstructed image quality. This paper discusses some of the issues involved in adjusting the rounding factor.
