Abstract
New algorithm of classified vector quantization based on wavelet transform for image coding is presented. According to the similarity in the same orientation but different levels of the discrete wavelet transform domain, this paper proposes a new algorithm of multiresolutional classified vector quantization. This algorithm exploits an efficient classifier to classify the vectors and uses the class information of the higher lever to instruct the vector classification of the lower lever by taking advantaging of the similarity. Simulation results show that this algorithm can get the higher image compression ratio and pleasant quality of the reconstructed image in comparison with others.
