Abstract
The intention of this paper is to characterize the customizable data service for location based services (LBS) in municipal GIS projects and to devise a customizable data synchronous model for servicing both spatial data and business dependent data. The customizable data service analysis aims to get a set of strategies that employs HTTPS, GPS, GPRS, WEB Service technologies and SMS platform to synchronous the data on the user's device with the data in the control center of the municipal GIS according to the user's requirement in specific businesses. A prototype given in this paper offers a practical solution to solve the customizable data synchronous problem for LBS, and the implementation of this system is proved to be successful.
