Abstract
Recently, Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) have found several applications from lighting to automotive displays, screens, traffic signaling and many other. These emerging applications require some of their visual quality characteristics to be measured as accurately as possible in an objective physical manner. Therefore the Photometry Laboratory and the Sources Spectroradiometry Laboratory of the Centro Nacional de Metrologia (CENAM) of Mexico have started with the development of photometry and radiometry measurement capabilities for LEDs in order to provide the industry with the necessary metrological infrastructure. In this paper we present the first results obtained at CENAM for the measurement of the luminous flux and the determination of the correlated color temperature of a couple of commercial white LEDs sources used for lighting. The values obtained for those quantities are presented here together with their corresponding estimated uncertainties and provided with traceability to the SI units through the national standards maintained at CENAM.
