Abstract
I have proposed a model, in which adenosine triphospate (ATP) plays a key role in prebiological evolution. Life is a phenomenon of evolving ordering. It can be shown that a system of conjugated irreversible reactions supplied by energy and dwelling near a steady state, is charged to produce ordering. ATP has properties which are the most appropriate to be involved in such a system. Primary synthesis of ATP demands strong reduced conditions. I show here that such conditions may exist on the early Earth.
