Abstract
We describe a design to build a highly efficient parametric downconversion source for single spatial mode polarization-entangled photons based on a periodically poled lithium niobate crystal in a polarization Sagnac interferometer. We have investigated pump focusing to improve the coupling of the output light into a single-mode fiber and obtained a single-mode generation and fiber coupling efficiency of 49%.
