Abstract
The general frequency dependence of three-photon absorption coefficients (α(3)) has been studied by sistematically comparing the α(3) experimental values of different semiconductors with theoretical predictions. In this way the contribution of exciton states density,band degeneracy and non-parabolicity have been pointed out. In particular,a good agreement has been found for a frequency dependence curve normalized with respect to the material para meters.
