Abstract
The article is devoted to research of the approach to pulse distortions definition arising under action of birefringence effects in fiber. The analysis of existing methods of an such distortions estimation used on network is executed. Except increase of a pulse duration under polarizing dispersion it is offered to estimate effects connected with nonlinear birefringence and interaction polarizing dispersion with losses, dependent from polarization. Modeling the specified factors is carried out. The set of factors effectively describing such distortions of a pulse is offered.
