Raissa Souza earned her BSc in Computer Science from Sao Paulo State University, Brazil. During her studies, she spent time at UCSD and UCLA, where she discovered her passion for applying computer science to improve medical care. Now, as a Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Calgary, her research focuses on developing distributed learning methods for training models on small datasets, with the aim of making machine learning more accessible in under-resourced areas.
