Currently, Dr. Tien Nguyen serves as a Sr. Project Leader and has held many technical and management positions at The Aerospace Corporation, including Deputy Chief System Architect, Principal Technical Staff, Sr. Engineering Specialist, Associate Director, Interim-Director, and Section Manager, 1996-2004 and 2014-Presence. Concurrently, he also serves as an Adjunct Research Professor at California State University in Fullerton (CSUF). Prior to CSUF, he was a Research Assistant Professor at The Catholic University of America. From 2004-2014, he was with Raytheon and recently retired as Engineering Fellow. He was a Technical Director, Chief Engineer, and Program Area Chief Engineer. From 2014-2015, he was with IFT and served as a Technical Advisor to the CTO. From 1985–1996, he was a NASA representative for the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS). Many of his works became CCSDS standards. He received a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Claremont Graduate University (CGU); a Ph.D. in EE; and four master degrees in mathematics, EM field, communications systems theory, and digital signal processing. He has published more than 250 papers and held 18 patents with two pending. He has received numerous awards, notably, 3 NASA honor and 22 NASA TechBrief innovation awards; 2 Raytheon innovation awards; 2022 Aerospace Corporation award, and 3 Aerospace Division awards along with numerous performance awards for his distinguished technological advancements; 3 IEEE awards for valuable contributions to technical program and session chairs; and the best paper award from IEEE WPTCE 2024 in Kyoto, Japan. He has served as the Editor for 4 books on satellite systems, SoS design-and-simulation, decision science, and program management. He is also serving as the (i) chairman of the advisory board at the CSUF-Center of Computational and Applied Mathematics, and (ii) Guest Editor for MDPI Journal on Information, Special Issues on Sensing & Wireless Communications.
