In this paper, the technical attribute developing from the fixed wireless broadband technology (IEEE802.16-2004) to
mobile wireless broadband technology (IEEE802.16e-2005) is discussed. A mobile WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) network structure is designed for the special needs of mobile digital city. This paper designed and optimized the specific network structure. The function of mobile wireless video, audio, data service
and others, which can manage and service for the mobile digital city are realized based on the mobile WiMAX network.
Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors are of particular interest for applications in the high voltage environments of electric
power industry. The study on the parameter examination and health monitor of the electric power apparatus has great social
significance and economic benefits. In this paper, the electric field or voltage sensor is constructed by using the
electrostriction material PZT combined with the FBG, while the magnetic field or current sensor is based on the giant
magnetostriction material (GMM). The characteristics of FBG strain, the relationship between the electrostriction
displacement of piezoelectric ceramic (PZT) material and the excitation voltage, relationship of the magnetostriction
displacement with excitation current, are analyzed respectively. The designed intelligent electrostrictive and magnetostrictive
sensors are both with temperature compensation. In each sensor, two FBG's are bonded in perpendicular to each other that
the electrostictive or magnetostrictive effects on the two gratings are added together, while the temperature effects are
cancelled out. These electrical parameter sensors can be widely used for fault diagnosis in electrical substation. The
development trend and applications of FBG sensors for power system are discussed.
