Abstract
Superimpose functions are designed to double the peak intensity and narrow the peak width based on inherent symmetry of Fourier Transform (FT) peak shapes. A new strategy, stepwise superimpose derivative, is developed to implement the superimpose operation with FT spectroscopy and imaging. A stair-like configuration is specifically built with a conventional FT spectrum. A derivative of their multiplication results in a sharply resolved spectrum with respect to first-order derivative FT spectrum as spectral background. Application examples in infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and magnetic resonance imaging are presented.
