This paper examines a schema for the fusion of simultaneous measurements of LWIR and visible signature data. This phenomenology-based schema is composed of LWIR and visible synergistic algorithms developed by the authors for implementation on the Midcourse Space Experiment (MSX). LWIR and visible synergistics are presented with Optical Signatures Code (OSC) predictions of the Spirit 3 LWIR radiometer and the Space-Based Visible (SBV) sensor, each resident on the MSX spacecraft. Fundamental LWIR and visible signature phenomenologies are examined with respect to multisensor fusion functions such as thermal mass and dynamics exploitation. Methods to extract LWIR and visible signature information are outlined and an example is included for the engagement given in the MSX Late Midcourse Principal Investigator MSX V experiment plan.
