The 3-D foot-shape measurement system based on laser-line-scanning principle and the model of the measurement
system were presented. Errors caused by nonlinearity of CCD cameras and caused by installation can be eliminated by
using the global calibration method for CCD cameras, which based on nonlinear coordinate mapping function and the
optimized method. A local foot coordinate system is defined with the Pternion and the Acropodion extracted from the
boundaries of foot projections. The characteristic points can thus be located and foot parameters be extracted
automatically by the local foot coordinate system and the related sections. Foot measurements for about 200 participants
were conducted and the measurement results for male and female participants were presented. 3-D foot coordinates and
parameters measurement makes it possible to realize custom-made shoe-making and shows great prosperity in shoe
design, foot orthopaedic treatment, shoe size standardization, and establishment of a feet database for consumers.
The 3-D foot-shape measurement system based on laser-line-scanning principle was designed and 3-D foot-shape
measurements without blind areas and the automatic extraction of foot-parameters were achieved. The paper is focused
on the study of the system structure and principle and image processing techniques. The key techniques related to the
image processing for 3-D foot shape measurement system include laser stripe extraction, laser stripe coordinate
transformation from CCD cameras image coordinates system to laser plane coordinates system, laser stripe assembly of
eight CCD cameras and eliminating of image noise and disturbance. 3-D foot shape measurement makes it possible to
realize custom-made shoe-making and shows great prosperity in shoe design, foot orthopaedic treatment, shoe size
standardization and establishment of a feet database for consumers.
The 3-D foot-shape measurement system under different loads based on laser-line-scanning principle was designed and
the model of the measurement system was developed. 3-D foot-shape measurements without blind areas under different
loads and the automatic extraction of foot-parameter are achieved with the system. A global calibration method for CCD
cameras using a one-axis motion unit in the measurement system and the specialized calibration kits is presented. Errors
caused by the nonlinearity of CCD cameras and other devices and caused by the installation of the one axis motion
platform, the laser plane and the toughened glass plane can be eliminated by using the nonlinear coordinate mapping
function and the Powell optimized method in calibration. Foot measurements under different loads for 170 participants
were conducted and the statistic foot parameter measurement results for male and female participants under non-weight
condition and changes of foot parameters under half-body-weight condition, full-body-weight condition and over-body-weight
condition compared with non-weight condition are presented.
3-D foot-shape measurement under different loads
makes it possible to realize custom-made shoe-making and shows great prosperity in shoe design, foot orthopaedic
treatment, shoe size standardization, and establishment of a feet database for consumers and athletes.
A novel system based on color-encoded structured light for 3D shape measurement is presented in this paper; only one
image is needed to be captured by the camera, so it has some advantages such as high resolution, rapid measurement.
The relationship between color and height is established through color coding, the height of object can be calculated by
decoding. According to the measurement principle, the calibration technique of the system is designed. The color stripe
encoded pattern with 6 colors, they are three primary colors: red, green, blue and their contrary colors: yellow, magenta
and cyan. There are two important characters that the combination of three color stripe order is unique and any two of
adjoining color stripes are different. An effective stripe thinning method is put forward. Finally, experiment system is set
up, and experiments of measurement cuboids are performed.
Remote medical monitoring network for long-term monitoring of physiological variables would be helpful for recovery of patients as people are monitored at more comfortable conditions. Furthermore, long-term monitoring would be beneficial to investigate slowly developing deterioration in wellness status of a subject and provide medical treatment as soon as possible. The home monitor runs on an embedded microcomputer Rabbit3000 and interfaces with different medical monitoring module through serial ports. The network based on asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) or local area network (LAN) is established and a client - server model, each embedded home medical monitor is client and the monitoring center is the server, is applied to the system design. The client is able to provide its information to the server when client's request of connection to the server is permitted. The monitoring center focuses on the management of the communications, the acquisition of medical data, and the visualization and analysis of the data, etc. Diagnosing model of sleep apnea syndrome is built basing on ECG, heart rate, respiration wave, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, air temperature of mouth cavity or nasal cavity, so sleep status can be analyzed by physiological data acquired as people in sleep. Remote medical monitoring network based on embedded micro Internetworking technology have advantages of lower price, convenience and feasibility, which have been tested by the prototype.
A single mode fiber (SMF) pigtailed laser diode alignment system used for coaxiality measurement of large scale holes is studied. The drift of angle of laser beam is restricted obviously by mode restriction of single mode fiber. The stability of laser reference line is the order of 1.5 x 10-6. It can be used in measurements of position and form errors of large scale workpieces.
