Profile Summary

Dr. Prof. Kyunghwan Oh has established himself as one of leading researcher in the field of fiber optics by initiating a hollow optical fiber waveguide design, which is being widely cited and applied in various research areas including optical communications and sensing. He has authored and co-authored more than 200 journal papers and 300 conference presentations. His research capability was recognized in leading institutes, which allowed him to build strong networks and receiving prominent and internationally renowned awards; Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow in Germany, Chevening scholar in UK, and Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) Invitation Fellow, to name a few. He is also very active in international journal editorship serving the optics community as a topical editor of Optics Letters, an associate editor of IEEE Photonics Technology Letters and Optical Fiber Technology, an international advisory board of Optics Communications, and an executive editor of Current Applied Physics. He was elected as a Fellow of The Optical Society of America (OSA) for his pioneering works in fiber optics in 2014.
