Sub-aperture finishing is applied for the correction of the optical surface.
Most important issue is how to keep stabilized sub-aperture tool contact (footprint)
condition and control a removal rate and a dwell time. Magneto Rheological Finishing is
one of the most advanced sub-aperture finishing process. For several years, this process
was applied for a correction of spherical or flat surface after precisely measured surface
data. The authors have reviewed and improved this finishing process to get more
reliable finishing result. This paper shows MRF is furthermore cable to "generate" a
desired optical profile from existing surface under completely controlled finishing
circumstance and metrology feedback.
Many micro-display devices have been proposed and used for projection display. The author will review about the characteristics of these devices and will discuss about optics to achieve their performance with full function. This paper shows typical approach of projection optics and describe about the advantage of the commercialization.
A binary phase grating that has a 2D periodic phase structure is useful to generate the directional diffuser. Recent analysis and computation for the periodically phase distributed plate will give the most optimized characteristics of the diffuser. This binary phase grating is successfully obtained, large enough, by a planar fabrication technique such as photolithography. Typical application of the phase grating for a clear and high efficiency focusing screen of the viewer is presented.
Recent advances in aspheric technology have resulted in remarkable progress in the manufacture of compact zoom lenses for consumer use such as photographic cameras or video cameras. The aspheric technology consists of aspheric lens production technology and also aspheric lens design technology. The author discusses recent advances in the above technologies and typical examples of zoom lenses which are successfully commercialized as aspheric zoom solutions.
